Two 10-year-old kids were on their way to class at Sacred Heart National School, and approached by a middle-aged man, who offered them sweets.
According to an alert issued to parents by Sacred Heart NS, the man “asked them some questions and the children were uncomfortable.”
“The children had the awareness to seek help immediately at the school.”
Sacred Heart NS urged parents to talk to their children “in a calm and appropriate manner, about how to handle situations of this nature.”
“As part of our SPHE programme, we teach Stay Safe Programme which educates the children about their personal safety.”
A spokesperson for Clondalkin Garda Station said they were investigating the incident.
Offering sweets
“We got a call at approximately 10am from a school principal. Two 10-year-olds were approached by a 50-year-old male, offering sweets at St John’s Drive. He was wearing a dark jacket. We don’t have anymore detail than that at the moment.”
The Echo contacted Sacred Heart NS – a spokesperson said they had taken the appropriate action, and had nothing further to add at this time.
