SDCC grant permission for 246 houses in Lucan

PLANNING permission has been granted for the development of 246 houses on Adamstown Drive and Newcastle Road in Lucan.

The applicant, Castlethorn Developments, submitted the plans for 141 two-storey three bedroom houses, 76 two-storey four bedroom houses, 15 two-storey five bedroom houses and 14 two-and-a-half-storey five bedroom houses last December.

There are options for a number of the houses to receive single-storey rear extensions.

Solar panels will be provided at roof level for 244 of the houses, and there are also provisions for one hectare of public open space and four ESB substations.

Vehicular access to the development will be provided off Adamstown Drive and also via a new access point off Newcastle Road on the R120.

It is proposed that parking will be provided by the provision of 534 car parking spaces, which will in a variety of on curtilage and on street conditions.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development with a number of conditions, including the submission of a revised road layout plan before any development can take place.

The conditions also instruct that all of the buildings must have a light coloured red brick finish, and that site security lighting should not impact negatively on neighbouring dwellings.

The development will be part of the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone.
