Senior teams set for last eight championship encounters

IT’S A BIG weekend on the Senior Football Championship front with quarter-final and relegation play-off matches down for decision.

Both St Jude’s and Ballyboden St Enda’s are out in action looking to book a semi-final spot while Round Tower (Clondalkin) are involved in the Senior Two quarter-final action.

Boden have been in flying form this season and topped their group after recording an impressive victory over Templeogue/Synge Street last week.

Boden have a strong pool of players to choose from including former Dublin star Michael Darragh MacAuley along with current stars Ryan and Colm Basquel.

The Firhouse Road outfit square up to Ciaran Kilkenny’s Castleknock side in what has the potential to be a cracking encounter.

Boden have a well-balanced side this season with Daire Sweeney, Darren O’Reilly, Warren Egan and Ryan O’Dwyer leading by example.

St Jude’s meanwhile have a tricky task ahead of them when they meet Cuala who have Dubs star forward Con O’Callaghan in their side.

Jude’s have been in the shake up over the last few seasons and will be aiming to secure a place in the last four draw.

Former Dubs ace Kevin McManamon will pose a real threat for the Cuala defence while Darragh Rooney, who accounted for eight points in their last game will be a key player.

Sean Kirwan who scored a goal for Jude’s last time out is another key player in the Jude’s set-up.

Elsewhere in the Senior Two Championship, Round Tower Clondalkin are out in action when they meet Naomh Olaf in O’Toole Park.

Dublin player Davy Byrne is an important member of the Olaf’s team while Tower’s have a good mixture of youth and experienced players in their side with Ian Ward leading the charge.

Elsewhere, Lucan Sarsfields and Templeogue/Synge Street will be looking for wins in their respective relegation championship matches.

Sarsfields face Cormac Costello’s Whitehall Colmcille’s in what is expected to be a close encounter.

Brendan Gallagher has plenty of experience in attack for Lucan while big shows will be needed from the likes of Harry Ladd and Conor Gallagher.

Templeogue/Synge Street meanwhile face St Sylvester’s in their relegation battle.

County stars Niall Scully and Killian O’Gara will have key roles to play for Templeogue in this tricky encounter.
