SFAI Cup joy for Rovers U12s

IT WAS a job well done for Shamrock Rovers U12s at the weekend when they lifted the SFAI Cup crown following their impressive 4-0 win over St Kevin’s Boys in Wayside Celtic’s ground.

Only a goal to the good at the interval, the Tallaght side turned in an impressive second half performance to run out comfortable winners.

In a tight opening period, it was Rovers that broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when Harry Rehill found a way through to guide the ball to the back of the net.

Both sides created a number of half chances, but it was the defences that stood firm limiting scoring opportunities.

The second half opened up more for Rovers and they did create chances and on 40 minutes Journas Jakos scored a goal from a cracking free kick.

Six minutes later and Rehill had the Hoops in the driving seat when he scored his second and his sides third as his team applied the pressure.

The victory was made all the more good when Ben Nolan’s header deflected of a defender and ended up in the Kevin’s net.

Joe Manicle put in a Man of the Match performance for Rovers while Rehill was lively going forward.

It a busy few weeks for Rovers with the team involved in the U12 league cup while they also play a grade higher and are also in the U13 league cup decider.
