Shots fired as Gardai arrest man and seize suspected firearm

A man has been arrested and a firearm has been recovered after Gardai reportedly opened fire on a vehicle on the Kylemore Way/Jamestown Road this afternoon.

The van failed to stop when flagged to do so.

Officers from the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau eventually apprehended the man after they rammed the vehicle.

The area has been cordoned off and there is a large Garda presence in the area.
