
Silverware for South Dublin Taekwondo at Scottish Open
A COLLECTION of South Dublin Taekwondo’s future stars travelled to Motherwell in Scotland for the eagerly awaited Scottish Open Championships.
A total of 23 of the clubs development athletes took to the ring in Children’s, Cadet and junior division’s eager to gain experience for future events and to put into practice their efforts in training.
A busy day for the four Club Coaches in attendance; Leroy Nsilu Dilandu, Cyrus Shirvani, Niamh Buffini and Robert Taaffe, assisted by Liam Donohoe as they managed the team throughout the day.
Whilst ‘medals and wins were a bonus’ according to Head Coach Taaffe, and ‘team building and experience’ was the objective, the team delivered some fine performances and took home some silverware for their efforts.
Finishing in quarter-finals were; Railoj Lewis Suba, Sean Verrecchia and Ryan Lugares.
Securing bronzes exiting at the semi-final stage were; Dylan Prendegrast, Nicholas Buffini-Taaffe, Adam Bedrani, Heidi Donohoe, Anthony Lella & Reiltin Salmon while silver medals were awarded to division runners-up Angelina Serbusca, Elena Lella, Kian Prendegrast, Bobby Fowler, Claire White & Sydney Fowler and finally the top tier of the podium and a gold medal in their respective divisions were taken by; Sorena Shirvani, Xander Joudar, Yeva Kovalchuk, Victoria Laurel, Darius Turcitu, Sean O’Neill, Dyzile Chin Estrada, Evelina Paulauskiene.
Olympic style taekwondo Club – SDTKD based in The Arena Shopping Centre, Tallaght, club were delighted to also win the second place overall team award at the event.
