Sisters delighted to win Salon of the Year Award

TWO sisters from Cherry Orchard were celebrating national recognition this week, after winning tanning salon of the year, at the Irish Hair & Beauty Awards 2019.

Danielle Goonery (27) and Shauna Murray (24) operate Electric Beach tanning salons in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin.

The pair survived the tragic loss of their mother Brigette in 2009, and have gone onto become successful in business.

“My mam passed away when I was 18. Shauna was 14 at the time, I raised Shauna myself, she still lives with me,” said Danielle, who is currently on maternity leave with her second child, but due to return to work in October.

“I had just done my Leaving Cert and was in first year of college. Mam got ill from Cancer, it was very sudden.”

The close sisterly bond saw the former Caritas College students open a Ballyfermot salon above the Iceland store in 2016, and expand with another salon in Clondalkin in early 2018 – located at the ACE Enterprise Park in Bawnogue.

Danielle continued: “We have huge support in the local area. A lot of our customers nominated us for the award, which was held on Sunday at the Crowne Plaza at the Airport.

“We were up against some big chains and brands, but we didn’t expect to win.

We are so proud to have the award of tanning salon of the year.”

Danielle is the owner of the business, operates the Clondalkin salon, while Shauna is Manager of the business and operates the Ballyfermot salon, and they are ably assisted by their niece Shannon Douglas.
