Drimnagh Festival coordinator Lorraine Mitchell said: “A festival like this is the perfect way for us to come together and celebrate as a community and to have such a space to do that on our doorstep is a privilege.”

Tidy Drimnagh chairman Eoin Neylon, said organisers were grateful to Dublin City Council for their support and “especially grateful to all local volunteers for coming on board to put this together.”

“Drimnagh is a vibrant, diverse community with a lot to offer people both young and old, and this festival reflects that perfectly,” he said.

Among the highlights on the day are a story corner run by local RTE presenter Rick O’Shea, and an appearance of rugby’s European Champions Cup and the GAA’s Liam McCarthy hurling All-Ireland trophy.
