Indeed 41 athletes took to the mats from SDTKD, most from beginner to novice divisions showing a great resurgence in interest in competition for the less experienced, since SDTKD opened their own club venue in the Arena in Tallaght last October.
And they emerged tops after some substantial performances throughout the ranks with Emma Cahill’s gold medal win in -41kg Cadet, Eoin Rosales victory in -45kg Cadet, Ryan Doyle’s gold and that of Bobby Nugent in his children’s division alongside his big brother Ben and father Alan who won silver medals.
Families were competing with trios from the Mahesh, McGovern’ Nugent and Malecka families all bringing home silverware.
“Medals aside, the team we’re excellent today” said Coach Robert Taaffe. “We had a lot of first timers and they went home with a smile on their face and medals around their neck.
“Our coaches, assistants and parents were brilliant contributing to a very enjoyable day” he added.
