Special moment as aunty and niece connected 5,000km apart
WHILE the Dublin-NYC ‘portal’ has been hitting headlines for the wrong reasons this week, for one Tallaght woman the art installation created a very special moment with her niece.
Living in Kilnamanagh, Dolores Murray’s brother Leslie moved to New York in 1984, and has been living there for the past 40 years.
Last Sunday, which was Mother’s Day in America, Leslie’s daughter Leslie-Anne organised to meet her aunty Dolores at the portal.
Speaking with The Echo, Dolores said: “Myself and my friend Bernie went in last Sunday and it was all very friendly, a really lovely experience.
“I could see Leslie-Anne when I got there, and she was really excited.
“Other people were there but weren’t meeting anyone in particular and they all thought it was lovely that I was meeting my niece.”

The Mother’s Day message
Dolores wished to say a big ‘thank you’ to Leslie-Anne for arranging the special moment – which connected the two of them even though they were more than 5,000km apart.
