Specsavers have their sights set on raising over €75k for Hope charity

SPECSAVERS stores in Liffey Valley and Clondalkin raised an incredible €11,000 in aid of charity partner, The Hope Foundation, through a charity golf tournament last week.
The tournament, attended by more than 20 teams, was supported by a number of Specsavers stores across Ireland, in addition to other generous sponsors who showed their support to this great cause by sponsoring a tee or donating prizes to the raffle.

Having raised €75,000 for The Hope Foundation in 2018, Specsavers is keen to meet this goal once again in 2019.
Spearheaded by Specsavers Liffey Valley and Clondalkin store director, Lisa Walsh, Specsavers stores across Ireland are fundraising to raise money to oversee the running of the eye clinic in Kolkata in India.
They also aim to purchase much-needed equipment for the Hope Hospital to provide high-quality eye care to the underprivileged people of Kolkata.
In November, Lisa Walsh will lead a Specsavers team of 10 to Kolkata, where they will spend a week providing eye care to the street and slum communities and to visit the Eye Hospital, which Specsavers supports.
This will be Lisa’s third trip to Kolkata. During a week-long volunteering trip last October, Lisa and her colleagues gave eye checks to more than 1,300 patients, dispensed more than 1,000 glasses, and in more severe cases, referred patients to the eye hospital for surgery.
Speaking about the fundraiser, Lisa, says: “I have worked with The Hope Foundation for a number of years and witnessed first-hand the incredible work they are doing for the children and families in Kolkata.
“To be able to support them in their work by doing charity fundraising events, such as our Specsavers Golf Classic, is my privilege.
I am overwhelmed by the support we received from the teams who registered to play, companies who sponsored a hole or donated goods for a raffle. Together we raised €11,000 as a community.”
The Hope Foundation Ireland is a registered Irish charity working with street and slum children in Kolkata.
The charity works to free children and poor families from lives of pain, abuse, poverty and darkness and seeks to improve their lives by providing access to healthcare and nutrition, education, drug rehabilitation and life skills and training.
With the help of Specsavers and The Hope Foundation, improved eye care will be made available to the children living in slums and hospitals in Kolkata.
