St Jude’s seek permission to install an all-weather pitch
By Laura Lyne
ST JUDE’s GAA looks set to expand and develop after submitting a planning application to construct a new skills wall and all-weather training pitch.
The application, which was received on June 28, is for the development of the wall and pitch along with a surrounding fence and netting to the west of the existing clubhouse building.
Third-party submissions on the application will be accepted until August 1, with a decision on the application due by August 22.
A relocation of two existing light fixtures is also included within the application, along with minor modifications to the clubhouse building, including new external doors.
Provision for the development of 52 bicycle parking spaces, modifications to the existing car park and the relocation of the existing service entrance gates are also included within the application.
The site had previously been flooded in 2014 due to a blockage of the Tymon Park lake, with repairs conducted by South Dublin County Council to stop the flooding.
In the application, Ciarán Ferrie Architects said: “This blockage has since been remedied and we do not anticipate a repeat of the flooding.
“In any case the proposed development does not add to the area of hardstanding on the site and there is therefore no increase in surface water run-off anticipated.”
