St Jude’s girls one step away from inter silverware

ST JUDE’S senior ladies football team take on Fingallians in the Intermediate Football Championship final in Clann Mhuire this Saturday with the hope of securing senior status.

This team won the All-Ireland Junior Football Final in 2022 making history as the Club’s first All-Ireland winners.

After being promoted to the Intermediate Championship the team consolidated their position last season and are now one match away from promotion to senior level football.

The team beat St Maur’s in the semi-final on Monday, September 25 in a game that was played in gale force wind conditions under Storm Agnes with both teams struggling against the elements.

Jude’s won by 3-06 to 0-08 with a dominant performance after leading 1-3 to 0-4 at half time.

Caoimhe French scored two second half goals to decide the game.

Captain Aoife Keyes’ Grandfather, Ernest Kenny, is a founder member of the Club.

Several of the players are also on the St Jude’s Senior Camogie team who played on Sunday morning against Ballyboden in Tymon Park in the Dublin Senior Camogie Championship and earned a place in the Dublin Final and will play St Vincent’s in Parnell Park on Friday, October 13.
