St Patrick’s Parade to be bigger and better this year

OVER 30 groups have registered to take part in the Clondalkin St Patrick’s Day parade, as the festivities gather steam ahead of the event on March 17.
Numerous businesses are sponsoring the Clondalkin parade again this year, which was resurrected in 2014.
Organisers already have over 30 groups stepping forward to take part.
Festival organiser and Clondalkin councillor Francis Timmons, has appealed for volunteers to help out with the celebrations, and for people who may have spare costumes they can donate for volunteers to wear at the village parade.
Cllr Timmons said: “The committee have been working hard to build this year’s parade into the biggest yet - 33 groups have signed up so far. This year Dolcáin's Cellar Open Mic group will perform at 1.30pm to 2.30pm outside Clondalkin SDCC civic offices which is a welcome addition to the parade. Clondalkin Youth Band are again in the parade along with vintage cars, to dance groups, to Emerald Garrison, there is something for everyone’’.
This year, a funfair has been added to Tuthills car park.
“We have K&G funfair in Tuthills and gunpowder carparks, so there will be a lot more rides and much more fun. Our Grand Marshals Gemma and Philip Carr are looking forward to arriving in a horse and carriage thanks to Masseys Funeral Homes.’’
