St Ronan’s National School celebrate raising sixth green flag

ST RONAN’S National School in Clondalkin celebrated raising their sixth Green Flag this week (Global Citizenship, Litter and Waste).
The school hosted a ceremony on Friday, June 21, to mark the latest green flag achievement, along with also winning an award for National Global Citizenship litter and Waste school of the year 2019.

Newly elected Green Party Councillor Peter Kavanagh attended the ceremony and raised the school flag.
St Ronan’s thanked their “hard working” Green School Committee for the “brilliant achievement” in promoting whole-school environmental awareness action plans.
Their Green Committee includes 43 children, nine teachers and their caretaker Pat.
In recent years, the school has developed a school garden where they grow vegetables.
They are currently working on a new sensory garden, and have a clean-up-club where volunteers (children and teachers) stay back after school on Tuesdays to improve the school environment.
Following the raising of the latest Green Flag, the whole school celebrated with a garden picnic and disco.
