Stones and fireworks being thrown at 40 bus results in route curtailment
By Maurice Garvey
THE number 40 Dublin Bus route has been curtailed multiple times in Neilstown in recent weeks, mainly down to some youths throwing stones and fireworks at the bus.
Between September 12-25, Dublin Bus confirmed five separate incidents “which occurred mainly in the Neilstown Road area”, according to Councillor Mark Ward (SF).
Vast majority of young people have nothing to do with the behaviour
Cllr Ward said: “I have had residents onto me who have been left waiting on buses or who have been asked to leave
the bus well before their desired stop. “Residents have informed me that it is young people who are causing the damage.”
He continued: “I’ve asked parents to have a conversation with their children about the dangers of these actions.
At the end of the day the people who are affected by their actions are their own family, friends and neighbours.
The vast majority of young people in North Clondalkin would have nothing to do with this sort of behaviour, but unfortunately it is a few young people who are letting the rest of them down.
“I have also contacted the Guards seeking additional visible resources along the Neilstown Road between the hours that most incidents happened.”
