
Student fined €500 for possession of cannabis
A STUDENT was fined €500 for being in possession of €500 worth of cannabis.
Benjamin Akinbote (24), with an address of Lindisfarne Park, Clondlakin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court, pleading guilty to the charge.
The court heard the gardai discovered the defendant with €500 worth of cannabis in small deals and €1,200 in cash on September 28, 2020.
Defence solicitor Ciaran MacLoughlin said his client was 19-years old at the time of the offence, smoking cannabis and working as a cleaner.
He is living with his mother and is now doing a business course in college said Mr MacLoughlin, asking for leniency.
Judge Aine Clancy fined the defendant €500 with six months to pay.
