Submachine gun and ammunition seized from stolen jeep in Greenhills

Gardai have seized a submachine gun and ammunition following the search of a stolen jeep in the Greenhills area, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday March 23.

The jeep was seized and taken from the area for technical examination. A black Uzi submachine gun with an attached silencer, a quantity of ammunition and a firearm magazine were discovered during this search.

The firearm and ammunition will now be forwarded to the Garda Ballistics section to be forensically examined.

A garda spokesperson said no arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing.
