Suspended sentence for stealing from M&S
A MAN who stole clothing and food from Marks & Spencer received a suspended sentence in Blanchardstown District Court.
Judge Dermot Simms heard that Lee O’Donoghue, who has 50 previous convictions, is homeless, but is due to get a house soon.
O’Donoghue, aged 25, with an address at the Father Peter McVerry Trust, Benburb Street, Dublin 7, pleaded guilty to stealing clothing and food worth €60.45 from Marks & Spencer, Liffey Valley, Clondalkin, on June 19, 2018.
Presenting Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge Dermot Simms that at 5.40pm on June 19, O’Donoghue was observed taking four items of clothing and food in Marks & Spencer and leaving without paying for them.
She said O’Donoghue had 50 previous convictions including four for theft and one for robbery.
O’Donoghue’s counsel, Ciaran McLoughlin Bl , said his client is homeless and is living in Fr McVerry accommodation, but is due to get a house soon.
Judge Simms sentenced O’Donoghue to one month in jail, suspended for one year.
