Take part in the One Day Dodder Photography competition
Dodder Action is an organisation dedicated to the maintenance of the Dodder river. They will be putting together a number of events this August to promote respect and enjoyment of the river.
On August 20, the One Day Dodder photography competition will take place. The event encourages any budding photographers to capture nice shots at any angle of the river from dawn to dusk over the course of a single day.

Any devices be it iPad, camera or phone can be used for this – a professional camera is not required. Photographs entered will be judged by Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Michael Finn, with the winners receiving the opportunity to have their photo’s displayed at The Hive Exhibition, Herbert Park, on August 26 and 27.
The next event happening by the river on August 27th is wildlife-themed to acknowledge waterways heritage day during Heritage Week.
Starting at 10am, Tim Clabons of the Irish Wildlife Trust will lead a group from the Dropping Well carpark to Rathfarnham, as they learn about flora and fauna on the riverbanks whilst searching for otters along the way.
On that same evening at 8pm, a walk will be conducted from outside the Firhouse Inn to witness the bats around Balrothery, with the opportunity to listen to their calls on special monitors.
