YOUNG people from Tallaght are not only representing their hometown on Ireland’s Got Talent but also their schools and the Irish language.

Over the course of the past two shows, young dancers from Xquisite Dance Club and Empire Dance left their mark on judges, after impressing with their talent, dedication and individuality.

Xquisite Dance received the Golden Buzzer after their quick stepping caught the attention of judges, while Syesha and Kyle from Empire Dance moved judges last Saturday with their contemporary, lyrical performance – which landed them four ‘yeses’.

Syesha from Empire Dance and one of the young dancers from Xquisite Dance, Dali, are both in the same class in Scoil Caitlin Maude in Killinarden.

School principal Bairbre Ni Ghoill told The Echo: “We’re all hugely excited that two of our students have done so well on the show.

“There is lots of talent in the area and it’s great that it is being showcased.

“Dance is particularly strong in Tallaght West and the kids are really interested in it, so it’s nice that the arts is taking centre stage.”

She added: “There are two kids in Scoil Santain who are also members of Xquisite Dance, so we are all very proud that four of the young people from Tallaght that have performed on Ireland’s Got Talent have fluent Irish.

“The excitement in the school is unreal, everybody is very proud.”

Another proud person this week is Gerard Ledwidge, a teacher with Empire Dance – a 35-student, free-style, contemporary and lyrical dance school in Cookstown.

“We’re really proud of Syesha and Kyle and we really believe they can go all the way”, he said.

“For their age they are both really ambitious and determined and delighted they did so well [on last week’s show].”
