
Tallaght athletes on top of their game in National Junior and U23s
TALLAGHT AC athletes were on top of their game at the National Junior and Under 23 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Athlone last weekend.
Rhasidat Adeleke won the Junior 200m title with a World Under 20 T&F Championship qualifying standard of 23.99 while Jennifer Hanrahan picked up the Junior Long Jump title with a superb leap of 5.57m.

Four Tallaght athletes made it through the heats of the Men’s Under 23 60m with Joseph Ojewumi winning Heat One with a time of 6.96 ahead of second place Joseph Finnegan Murphy in 7.00
Simon Essuman, in 7.08, emerged runner-up in Heat Two with Michael Ogunsiakan making the final as one of two fastest with a time of 7.36.
It was a fantastic feat for the club to have four of the eight finalists in the blocks and Ojewumi led the quartet home, in taking the silver in a time of 6.91 with Finnegan Murphy securing bronze in 7.046- just 4/1000’s of a second ahead of Essuman (7.050) in fourth with Ogunsiakan clocking 7.28 on his way to seventh.
Essuman also contested the 200m in which he recorded a new personal best time of 22.18 to qualify for the final as the third fastest overall, but unfortunately he was forced to withdraw from the final due to muscle tightness.
Malcolm Ansah, meanwhile, finished fourth in the Junior 60m heats where he recorded a time of 7.42.
