Tallaght MA tops in All-Ireland Championships

TALLAGHT Martial Arts Fight team topped the medal table at the second round of the KBI All-Ireland National Championship in UCD at the weekend securing a number of Team Ireland positions in the upcoming European Championships in Turkey in August.

The competition was hotly contested with Gold Medals across a number of sections including Jodie Browne in the – 70kg Senior Female Points, Conor McGlinchey in the -84kg Senior Male Points as well as Gar Ryan & Rebecca Kelch once more securing their places on the Irish team that will represent Ireland in the WAKO World Championship in Portugal in November.

Shauna Fitzgerald won in a thrilling final to secure her first Senior Championship in the -50kg Senior Female Points Fighting and Stephen Jones taking his 11th National Title in +94kg Masters Points Fighting as well as Ann-Marie O’Grady taking top of the podium.

Also debuting in their Senior year was Cian Colvin who had an outstanding final to take home a well-deserved gold medal in -57kg Senior Male Points Fighting while also taking 2nd place in Junior Points -57kg.

Dylan McClelland narrowly missed out in a nail biting fight off to come second in -69kg Senior Male Points Fighting division.

Facing each other in both Junior and Senior sections Lisa McCabe and Ellen McCaughey fought a number of battles with Lisa claiming the top spot in both sections.

Ellen also took home a gold each in Light Contact and Kick light Junior sections to renew her National titles.

Dylan McClelland fighting in the -69kg Points section, won his final by maximum score to regain his National title with Eryn Birkhead also winning by maximum score in the -55kg Points Fighting section.

Naman Shrivastava also picking up 2 gold medals in both points and light contact – 63kg Junior divisions ending the weekend with a roaring crowd and a thrilling final.

Edward Comerford topping the podium fighting in both the Older Cadet -37kg Light Contact and Points with his TMA Fight team club mate Dara Kelly Clarke taking second in the same points and 3rd in the light contact divisions.

Callum O’Connor regained his national title in the -69kg Kick Light division while also scoping a bronze in his Light Contact division while Leo Golding took home a bronze in the Junior Light Contact and Points sections.

Hat Trick Duo Nathan Clarke and Cillian McArdle fought their way to 3 gold medals each in Points, Light Contact and Kick Light divisions to secure their coveted positions.

Another maximum points win by Isabelle Golding in the -47kg Younger Cadet points division.

Also taking home gold was Amy Comerford and Eoin Finn in their respective points fighting divisions.

Also making the podium this year are Conor McClelland, 1st place points, Anna White taking 2nd place, Dillon king taking a 2nd and 3rd place in light and kick light, Georgie Doyle, Sarah Cassidy and Cian Jones all taking home silverwear for TMA bringing the total medal haul to 48!
