Tallaght shortlisted for new enterprise innovation space

TALLAGHT has been shortlisted for the development of a new enterprise/innovation space in the county as part of South Dublin County Council’s initiatives to create new employment opportunities in the area.

The local authority outlined its job creation initiatives in response to a motion that was tabled by Fianna Fail councillor Charlie O’Connor at a Tallaght Area Committee meeting last month, requesting confirmation of action that the council is taking for the development of employment opportunities.

The council made reference to its involvement in the South Dublin Local Economic and Community Plan 2016 – 2021 in order to “improve the level and quality of economic activity” in the county, and it outlined the work of the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in assisting new and developing micro-enterprises with job creation and sustainment in the county.

The council’s 2018 budget has provided for the continuation of the Business Support Fund, while the local authority is also a key partner in the Dublin Action Plan for Jobs initiative.

Last month, Tallaght was shortlisted as one of two options for the development of a new enterprise/innovation space following the draft findings of a recently commissioned Feasibility Study on Enterprise Space Development in the County, which will be explored further in the coming weeks.

The council is also supporting the redevelopment of Bolbrook Enterprise Centre by Partas, a project that has received funding approval from Enterprise Ireland’s Regional Enterprise Development Fund.

The council stated that these projects “have the potential to deliver significant job creation in Tallaght and the county as a whole”.
