Tallaght teen pleads guilty to assaulting mother at his home
By Brendan Grehan
An “all round sportsman” (16) who assaulted his mother has been remanded for a progress report by Tallaght Court.
The teenager recently went for a trial with a soccer club in the north of England.
The teenager, who has an address in Tallaght, had pleaded guilty to assaulting his mother at their home on June 28, 2016.
The court had heard that the boy had pushed his mother against the wall and grabbed her by the throat after she asked him if he knew where her keys were.
He was before Judge Patricia McNamara for a progress report
Judge McNamara asked the teenager how the trial went.
He replied: “They were impressed. It went very well.”
Judge McNamara said the report was short but it was a good report.
The teenager’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, said his client plays a number of sports including soccer, gaelic football and sprinting.
Judge McNamara told the teenager: “So you are an all-round sportsman. Very good”.
Mr Hennessy said he thought the teenager would benefit from being kept under review by the probation services.
Judge McNamara remanded the teenager on continuing bail to a date in December for a progress report.
