Task forces set to tackle drug-dealing and scramblers
A HIGH-level task force set up to tackle ongoing anti-social problems at St Cuthbert’s Park is due to meet again on July 13.
The task force comprises officials from South Dublin County Council, gardai, public representatives and community/voluntary representatives.
Scramblers, drug-dealing and illegal dumping have blighted the Clondalkin park in recent years.
Thugs even prevented council staff from collecting rubbish in the park in recent months.
With regard to scramblers, SDCC said another taskforce has been established between the four Dublin local authorities, Department of Justice, Department of Transport, An Garda Síochána, Motorcross and the Road Safety Authority.
The first meeting of the [scramblers] taskforce took place last month in SDCC offices and is scheduled to meet up again in September.
Independent Councillor Francis Timmons asked SDCC last month for updated information on plans for the park, including the installation of CCTV cameras.
SDCC was due to install a CCTV system in the park in June, which is to be monitored 24 hours a day by local gardai.
A spokesperson for SDCC told The Echo: “CCTV works are expected to commence at this location (St Cuthbert’s Park) in the coming days.”
