A SUPERB third-quarter performance by Templeogue College saw them beat Colaiste Choilm 57-75 today in Limerick and book their place in the National Under 19A Schools Basketball Cup Final.

Down by five points at the halftime break, Eddie Guilmartin’s side really turned the match on its head in the third period, outscoring their Ballincollig opponents 7-22.

Iarla McKeon was on fire for the winners, hitting 29 points while Sam Walsh and Matthew Harper weighed in with 15 and 11 respectively.

“This was a tough match for us,” said Guilmartin.

“Ballincollig have been there before and have a lot of pedigree. They never gave up and that was our problem.

“We didn’t settle at all in the first quarter, but we stopped them from shooting in the second half and that was key.

“We forced them into making their shots and we really took our chances” he said.

Guilmartin’s side will now face off against St Malachy’s of Belfast in the decider in the National Basketball Arena.
