Templeogue U16s into cup decider
TEMPLEOGUE stormed through to the final of the DMBB Under 16 Boys Basketball Cup following their 88-46 point pounding of Ongar Chasers on Sunday.
Sitting top of the league table coming into the last four which they reached after beating Malahide, the Reds faced an Ongar outfit that had enjoyed an equally convincing victory over Killester in their semi final tie.
Templeogue’s Under 16s are into the final
Templeogue were out of the blocks quickest, pressing from the tip and running up a 10-point lead through the Daniel Carberry and Hugh Beashel axis.
Ongar began to get a foot in the game midway through the first with some big points from Eimantas Spuduliene, reducing the gap to 22-15 by the end the first quarter.
The second quarter proved a tough one for Ongar with key players running into foul trouble and Templeogue taking full advantage.
Scores were coming from across the team now with Jack Finn, Jacob Fazande and Togii Chilkhaajav adding to Carberry and Beashel’s hauls that saw the half end 50-28.
Templeogue refused to relent in the third quarter as Murray drained two three-pointers while Ryan Hyland and Alejandro Rodriguez Pomedio also contributed.
To their credit Ongar never gave up with their talisman, Spuduliene ending the game with 23 points. The winner of the other semi between Dublin Lions and Eanna will face Templeogue in the decider on the weekend of March 14/15.
