The art of being human: Students curate exhibition at BCFE
BALLYFERMOT College of Further Education is proud to announce a student-curated content creation and photography exhibition at Ballyfermot Library Gallery One, reports Ken Doyle.
This engaging and insightful exhibition is running to mid-January, and showcases a diverse range of works exploring human experiences and mental health topics.
In these modern times, and particularly in our post-Covid world, the subject of mental health and its importance makes this exhibition timely and poignant.
Featuring videos and photographs that delve into subjects like bipolar disorder, addiction, and anxiety, this exhibition highlights the students’ creative and narrative skills.
Each piece offers a unique perspective on complex and often misunderstood themes, encouraging visitors to reflect on the stories and ideas presented.
Course co-ordinator Aisling O’Rourke told The Echo: “This is actually the first year the Photography and Content Creation course has run and the fact that our students haven’t even completed their first semester yet makes what they’ve achieved all the more remarkable.”

“This event is not just a showcase of talent but an invitation to the community to engage with the important issues of mental health through the powerful medium of photography.
“It’s a testament to the students’ dedication to exploring the depth of human emotions and the nuances of storytelling.
“The students were all able to draw on personal experiences, be it through family members or friends and I’m thrilled that they all met with full co-operation and support as they explored what can be very sensitive topics.
“The course has so far proven to be a great success and the students have proven themselves to be capable, eager and hardworking.
“This exhibition actually gives them a new set of challenges, such as how to put an exhibition together and how to work as a team.
“I’m delighted to say that they’re an exceptional group of people and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The exhibition promises to be a thoughtful and approachable experience for all, highlighting the creativity and insight of this group of students.
They are all participants on the inaugural year of Ballyfermot College’s Level 6 Content Creation and Photography Course.
Applications are open for next year’s course and for more information, interested parties are advised to consult the BCFE.ie website.
