
There’s a celebration of Ballyfermot, its people and local heritage starting this weekend
A celebration of Ballyfermot, its people and local heritage will kick off this Saturday at the local library.
The three events will see old photos and film footage displayed, local events in the area at the time of the War of Independence explained, and the famous pigeon fanciers examined.
This Saturday, 19 August from 10am-4pm Ballyfermot Heritage Group will display old photos and film footage of Dublin and highlight Ballyfermot and its people.
Local bands will play traditional music throughout day, and it is sure to be a trip down memory lane. Booking is not required for this event.
On Thursday, 24 August at 6:30pm Dublin South Central Historian-in-Residence, Cathy Scuffil will explain the politics and events behind the War of Independence, the Truce, Treaty and Civil War, drawing on events that occurred locally to Ballyfermot and the surrounding areas. Booking is essential for this event.
