Thieves strike twice in 48 hours to steal alloy wheels in Tallaght and Rathfarnham
A Garda investigation is underway after thieves stole alloy wheels from vehicles in Rathfarnham and Tallaght over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend – as part of what it is believed to have been a targeted criminal operation.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Airpark Avenue, Rathfarnham, while the second robbery happened in the Belfry estate in Citywest (below) in the early hours of Monday morning.

In the second incident the thieves smashed a window on the vehicle, recovered the lock-nut from the boot of the car and proceeded to remove all four wheels, using a car-jack and the spare wheel to hoist up the car.
Both vehicles targeted were Volkswagen Golfs, and it is believed the wheels may have been robbed to order by an organised gang.
Speaking to Echo.ie, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating the theft of alloy wheels in Rathfarnham overnight on April 15th and in Tallaght at the Belfry Manor apartments on April 17th.
“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Rathfarnham Garda station on 01-6666500 or Tallaght Garda station on 01-6666000.
