Thompson and Moriarty both strike gold for Lucan

LUCAN Harriers Athletic Club saw a number of their athletes turn in some impressive performances in the Irish Life Health Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone.

Sean Thompson and Hannah Moriarty led the way for the club with gold medal wins in their respective disciplines.

The former went top of the podium in the Under 19 Boys Triple Jump after producing a new personal best leap measuring 14.13m.

An Under 17 Indoor champion in 2015 and bronze medallist the following year, Thompson finished fourth in the West Leinster Schools Championship.

Meanwhile Moriarty cleared a distance of 4.81 to emerge victorious from the Under 13 Girls Long Jump field.

There were PBs also for Liam Fitzgerald (6.16m), Maggie Jez (5.19m) and Eoghan O’Connor (7.75m) in the Shot Putt. 

Jez also turned in a strong run in the Under 12 600m, winning her heat and reaching the Final while in the Boys Under 13 600m, Liam Brennan recorded a fine run in his heat as did Daire Dono-ghue in Under 14 800m.
