A Garda told Judge David McHugh that at 6.20am on September 16, 2016, gardai carried out a search at Weldon’s family home at Cloverhill Drive, Ballyfermot.

He said Weldon was upstairs in his bedroom and threw a lunchbox containing €2,500 worth of cocaine and €700 worth of cannabis out the window.

A list of names, a weighing scales and plastic cut-offs were also found.

The Garda said Weldon had seven previous convictions. On October 6, 2016, he had been sentenced to 60 hours community service for theft.

He had no previous record for drugs offences.

Weldon’s counsel, Ciaran McLoughin Bl, said his client had not been in trouble since the incident.

He said Weldon is hoping to do a Community Employment course. He said Weldon had left school at 13 and had developed addictions to cocaine and cannabis.

Mr McLoughlin said Weldon was now clean.

Judge McHugh told Mr McLoughlin that if his client had taken any more convictions since 2016 he would be going to jail.

He sentenced Weldon to 200 hours community service with five months jail in default.
