Time to nominate your local hero in the 40th Tallaght Person of The Year
Tallaght Community Council this week writes about the upcoming Tallaght Person of the Year awards, encouraging everyone to nominate before Saturday, October 21.
TALLAGHT Community Council (TCC) launched the milestone 40th Tallaght Person of the Year Awards in The Station in Tallaght village earlier this month.
These awards offer a unique opportunity in Tallaght to recognise those around you, across all walks of life in the community, from environment to youth, who give selflessly and positively impact others.
Nominations are easy to make, the forms are online and you are guided through the process, once you have all your nominee contact details to hand, it will take less than 5 minutes to make your nomination.
All validated nominees receive a certificate of appreciation in the post to acknowledge their community contributions.
The early nominations received have already been validated and certificates issued to the nominees.
Keep an eye out for the “Special Delivery” stickers in the post this week.

“Nominees tell us year after year how proud they felt when the envelope popped through their letterbox with a certificate.
“Some nominees feel so excited they share the news with family and friends, others sometimes keep the news to themselves.
“The important thing is both categories of nominees know they are appreciated and valued.

Daren O Neill Tallaght West Credit Union, gold sponsors with Tallaght and District Credit Union
“That is key”, said Tara De Buitléar, TCC PRO, Awards PR and Marketing Manager.
Nominations must be made online. The closing date is midnight, Saturday 21st of October.
This leaves a little over 10 days for any individual, organisation, school, business or club to make nominations.

“There is no upper limit on the number of people or groups you can nominate. But it isn’t a voting system.
“The nominees are adjudicated based on the information included in the nominations form for the panel of judges.
“Deciding on the award winners doesn’t operate on the number of nominations an individual nominee gets.

Patrick Markham and Damian McGrath from AWS in Communities
“It is on the content in the nomination form.
“So tell us lots about your nominee.
“What makes them so special”, said Liz Kennedy, Vice Chair of TCC 2023/24.
All nominees are listed in the press shortly after the nominations close, on the Roll of Honour that is published in The Echo newspaper.

Comedian Al Porter will be the Master of Ceremonies at the Tallaght Person of The Year Awards next month
“There is no upper limit on the number of people or groups you can nominate.
“You can nominate a different nominee in all 9 categories if you wish.
“Businesses, sports clubs and schools are encouraged to nominate from their employees, students, teachers or volunteers who make a difference in their organisations.
“Think of it as an easy way to spread recognition for others as we draw into the end of 2023.”
Tallaght Community Council are proud to have the Tallaght comedian and writer, Al Porter at the helm of the milestone awards this year as MC.
” The awards will be in safe hands with Al as the MC.
“No one knows the strength of the Tallaght community or the importance of the awards as well as him.
“We are beyond thrilled his busy touring schedule has allowed him to be with us on the special night in The Civic this year”, added Tara De Buitléar.
Nominations close at midnight on Saturday, 21st of October, 2023.
TCC urges anyone interested to nominate and not to leave it too late, or assume someone will nominate that amazing neighbour.
