Top Ramsey restaurant chef hails from Tallaght

TALLAGHT woman Anna Haugh is hitting the headlines as the head chef of London House, a restaurant opened in February 2014 by fiery-mouthed TV chef Gordon Ramsay.
The 34-year-old chef has also appeared on Ramsay’s show Hell’s Kitchen, and famously judged a final of the show in Beverly Hills.
Since becoming head chef at the London House restaurant, located in London’s Battersea Square, Anna has been hailed as the “newest major player” in London dining after the restaurant was awarded three AA rosettes – a feat reserved for famed restaurants such as London’s River Café, and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.
Growing up in Tallaght, Anna was the youngest of four children and was raised on the home-cooking of her mother and father.
Her family grew their own fruit in the back garden, and one of Anna’s earliest memories was making her own jam with her mother.
She got her start working in L’Ecrivain, located on Baggot Street, working 16-hour days, seven days a week, before heading off to Gualtiero Marchesi per il Lotti in France, where she became head pastry chef.
From there, she made her way to London, working at Michelin-starred Pied à Terre, and later at The Square as chef de partie, before becoming Director of Food at Rocket, a high-end food company.
Her career as part of Gordon Ramsay’s team began in 2013, where she worked at Ramsay’s Maze and Union Street Café while waiting for London House to be completed.
Future plans for Anna include a business idea she has surrounding her love for Irish food, and the possibility of London House some day receiving a highly coveted Michelin star.
Despite being offered a chance at TV, Anna intends to remain on Gordon Ramsay’s team – until the right offer comes along.
