A CELEBRATION was held in Molloys Bar and Grill in Tallaght Village recently to recognise the achievement of a number of staff from Trustus, a Tallaght-based charity, who received QQI Level 5 awards in healthcare.
Trustus provides services for older people living across local communities. The staff of the charity, which is Tallaght’s oldest voluntary body with services dating back to 1969, offer a number of services for older people in the area including meals-on-wheels and day centre services.
Marie Price Bolger, chief executive of Trustus, told The Echo: “It was a great night and it was our way of acknowledging the achievement of the staff, to celebrate the completion of their exams and getting their certificates.
“It validates the experiences of the staff – some have been here for more than 20 years and would’ve started working in healthcare when there wasn’t a need for qualifications.
“The fact is that we’ve been supplying healthcare to older people in the community for almost 50 years, and now all of the staff are fully qualified to QQI Level 5.”
Trustus opened a charity shop beside Camile Thai in the Village Green Centre last April, with hopes to expand their services from the money raised via the shop.
