Tully is in class of his Eoin at World Championships

IT WAS a lucky July for Lucan’s Eoin Tully who has just returned from the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Truro, Nova Scotia with one gold and one silver medal.

After travelling for over 24 hours the Irish team arrived in Dublin Airport to a rapturous reception.

Overall the Irish team won five golds, three silvers, 10 bronze medals and recorded 36 personal bests.

Many new friendships were formed during the competition by both swimmers and supporters and live streaming of the event was a great bonus for all the supporters back home.

Eoin is a member of Viking Swimmers Special Olympics Club who, established in 1999,  are based in Tallaght Leisure Centre. Eoin’s fellow member, Maeve Phillips, also competed in Canada for Ireland at the championships.

When Eoin arrived home at Dublin Airport on Sunday he proudly sung Amhran na bhFiann to waiting fans at Arrivals.
