Two-day closure of local day care centre is ‘once-off’
By Aideen O'Flaherty
THE closure of the Day Care Centre at Crooksling for a two-day period earlier this month to allow a staff member to go on holidays was a “once off” occurrence, according to a HSE spokesperson.
The day care centre at St Brigid’s Home in Crooksling was shut on August 9 and August 11, sparking fears among clients that closure of the Day Care Centre may be imminent.

When contacted by The Echo, a spokesperson from the HSE said that there are no plans for the imminent closure of the day care centre.
“The temporary closure of the Day Centre at St Brigid’s Nursing Home Crooksling is for two days only, Wednesday August 9 and Friday August 11.
“This is on a once-off basis due to nursing staff shortages during a period of peak holiday time.
“It is usual to have some closures in Day Centres at this time of the year.
“The Health Service Executive has no plans to close the Day Centre at St. Brigid’s Nursing Home.”
The HSE-run nursing home is scheduled to close in 2020 ahead of services being moved to the Community Nursing Unit in Tymon North, Tallaght.
Work on the new Community Nursing Unit began last May, it’s expected that it will take two years for the construction of the unit to be complete.
