Two juveniles arrested following Garda car chase

TWO juveniles were arrested by Gardai at lunch time today following a car chase which started in Baldonnell and finished up in Boot Road in Clondalkin.

According to Gardai, the car failed to stop when requested to do so and a managed containment operation ensued which finished up on Boot Road and the juveniles were arrested.

A Garda statement released to Tho Echo this evening said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of dangerous driving that occurred in the Clondalkin area this afternoon, Friday 29th January 2021. 

“A car failed to stop when requested to do so on the Baldonnell Road shortly before 1:45pm. 

“A managed containment operation ensued which ceased a short time later on Boot Road.

“Two juveniles were arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda station.

“One of the juveniles was released without charge while the other was released with a file being prepared for the JLO. Investigations ongoing”.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident also in Clondalkin in the early hours of Friday morning, a driver failed to stop at a Garda checkpoint and drove away at speed. 

The incident occurred at 1.30am 

A Garda statement released said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 on Friday 29th January 2021 at approximately 1.30am.

“A vehicle failed to stop for Gardaí who were conducting a checkpoint. The car then drove away from the checkpoint at speed.

“Gardaí pursued the vehicle which was discovered abandoned a distance away.

“Investigations are ongoing”.
