Sergeant Eithne Madden told Judge Patricia McNamara that the DPP had directed summary disposal in respect of Monahan and Canavan’s cases.

Judge McNamara asked what was alleged.

Sgt Madden said it will be alleged that at 12.30am on February 28 last, the gardai responded to a call that two men had been seen acting suspiciously in the underground car park of Belfry Hall.

She said it will be alleged that when the gardai arrived at the car park they came across Canavan and Monahan.

Sgt Madden said it will be alleged that Canavan was found in possession of a screwdriver and a wrench and Monahan was found in possession of a flat head screwdriver.

Judge McNamara accepted jurisdiction.

Granting legal aid to both accused, she remanded them both on continuing bail for three weeks for a plea or a date for hearing.
