Two men charged in cannabis jellies seizure

TWO men have been charged in relation to the seizure of cannabis jellies with an estimated street value of €33,700 and cash worth over €14,000 in Bluebell.

The seizure occurred at around 6am yesterday morning, Sunday, August 8.

An Garda Siochána Community Engagement Units in Kilmainham and Kevin Street Garda stations lead the operation which saw a man (mid-30s) stopped while driving a vehicle in Bluebell, Dublin 12.

During the course of a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84, cash and a small quantity of cannabis was seized.

The man was arrested and detained at Kevin Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Following that, Gardaí searched a residential property where cannabis jellies with an estimated street value of €33,700 were discovered and seized – along with “an array of drug paraphernalia”.

“A man (40s) and woman (30s) were arrested and were detained at Kevin Street Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“The two men were charged in relation to the seizure and appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice, this morning Monday 9th August, 2021 at 10.30a.m.

“The woman was charged and will appear before Court on the 1st September, 2021.

“Investigations ongoing.”
