A UNIQUE walk-in centre and website aimed at providing people with information on all current and planned housing developments across South Dublin County has been launched – with details also provided on the local amenities and services within each area.

Developed by South Dublin County Council, MyDoorStep is a walk-in service based at County Hall, Tallaght, which provides buyers with all of the details needed to make the most informed decision possible when purchasing a home in the region.

The new digital platform

According to the council, the recent growth in new home construction has provided first time buyers with “a variety of choices for the first time in a decade” – and in recognition of this, the council has launched the new information service.

MyDoorStep is a digital information platform that combines information on current and planned housing developments in any location across South Dublin County, and includes detail on childcare, education, health, recreation, retail and sporting facilities in areas.

The digital portal streamlines this information through one source, allowing easy access from the council’s headquarters or from home through the MyDoorStep website.

According to the council, the platform cuts out the potential multiple enquiries a prospective buyer would need to make at present – with visitors to County Hall guided through the portal by council staff from its Land Use, Planning and Transportation department.

Speaking at the launch, Mayor Mark Ward, complimented the collaborative nature of the project and welcomed the facility: “MyDoorStep is a means of access to South Dublin County, not just to housing information but to all of the quality services and amenities that the county has to offer.

“We look forward to welcoming both potential and existing residents to try out the portal and see what South Dublin County has to offer.”

Chief Executive of South Dublin Daniel McLoughlin said that it is essential that the “lifetime decision of purchasing a home is well informed and thought through”.

“South Dublin County Council’s aim as a housing authority in welcoming people to the county is to make that process of information gathering as uncomplicated as possible”, Mr McLoughlin added.

Keith Lowe, the Chief Executive of the DNG property advisory group, which is supporting the new portal believes that MyDoorStep will be useful to all home buyers.

“This will allow for easy access to a wealth of valuable information on planning, amenities and facilities in the area as well as details on all new homes available in the county”, he said.
