STUDENTS from Old Bawn Community school have made it to the grand finals of the Junk Kouture competition.

The two-piece outfit with matching shoes is made mainly out of synthetic hair extensions.
“They wanted to show that they could make a whole piece from something faux as opposed to animal fur”, Art Teacher at Old Bawn Community School, Jessica Hollowed, told The Echo.
The Junk Kouture grand final supported by Creative Ireland was due to take place in the 3Arena Dublin in April 2020 but was rescheduled to a televised show due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Recording of the competition took place in the Smock Alley Theatre in November and gave the students a chance to showcase their designs in a safe way.
Jessica told The Echo: “The students had been working since September up until the day of recording. The recording day was brilliant, they had everything set up, it was very professional, and the kids loved it.

There will also be a special musical performance from musician Aimée who will perform her new single Bulletproof.
The winner of Junk Kouture will walk away with €1,000 with a further €2,000 for the winning school.
