Up to €15,000 available in creativity move
Local artists and creatives could receive awards of up to €15,000 in South County Dublin under a new five-year initiative promoting creativity throughout the country.
The Creative Ireland initiative, which will run from 2017 to 2022, is the government’s legacy programme for Ireland 2016.
Some Creative Ireland funds have already been allocated to South County Dublin, some of which has been used to fund events including the Crinniú na Casca event in Tallaght on Easter Monday.
Crinniú na Casca focused on Tallaght as a creative hub, by hosting a full programme of events throughout the day which were curated by five of the county’s cultural organisations.
Two awards are now open for applications, including the Artist and Creatives Collaborative Practice Award totalling €15,000, which will support an artist or creative in any discipline in their collaborative practice.
The successful proposal will need to have a professional development and community element to it, and it will engage with one or all three of the cultural venues in Tallaght.
The Emerging Arts Group Incubation Award, totalling €5,000, will be used to support collectives or groups of emerging young artists and creatives in any discipline, in order to develop their practice and promote their voice in the county.
Application forms are available online at http://www.sdcc.ie/services/parks-and-recreation/arts/arts-grants-and-bursary-awards, and completed applications should be sent to hedwards@sdublincoco.ie.
The closing date for applications is September 1 at 1pm.
