Warehouse employee allegedly stole €3,750
AN employee at a Clondalkin warehouse allegedly stole more than €3,750 that was given to him as payment for an order.
David McGrath is accused of keeping the money, which was never received by the company.
Blanchardstown District Court
Judge David McHugh accepted jurisdiction to hear the case at Blanchardstown District Court and adjourned it for the accused to decide on a plea.
Mr McGrath, aged 52, with an address at James Connolly Park, Clondalkin, is charged with theft at Nangor Road Business Park, Clondalkin on August 1, 2018.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan said the DPP had consented to summary disposal of the case at district court level.
In a summary of the prosecution’s evidence, she said it was alleged two orders were collected from a business on the day in question.
One order was already paid for in full and the second was paid for in cash. There was an envelope with €3,750 allegedly handed over to Mr McGrath, Sgt Callaghan said.
The money was never handed into the cash office, she alleged.
Judge McHugh said he was accepting jurisdiction to deal with the case in the district court and adjourned it to January 14. Mr McGrath was remanded on continuing bail in his absence. He was not required to be present in court.
