‘We just weren’t creative enough’
PEAMOUNT United Senior Women’s team manager James O’Callaghan has pointed to a lack of creativity as one of the primary reasons for their 2-1 loss to defending National League champions Wexford Youths in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash.
Two goals from Rianna Jarrett proved the undoing of the Newcastle side who consequently slip to third place in the table, four points off Wexford having played a game more.

Amber Barrett did fire home a late penalty for the homeside, but they were unable to salvage a share of the spoils.
“We just weren’t good enough,” O’Callaghan told The Echo.
“We gave away two sloppy goals and we just weren’t creative enough to get back into it. The girls worked hard and I was happy with the way we played up until that first goal.
“Credit to Wexford. They’re the champions for a reason and they set themselves up well defensively after we gave away that first goal.
Lacked that creativity
“We’re very disappointed. We’d fully intended to go out there and win, but we lacked that creativity and so now we have to react in the best way we can.
“It’s Limerick away next on Sunday and we’ve got to get the points.
“We’re not even halfway through the season. We still have to play Wexford again and they have to play [second place] Shelbourne twice so we’ll keep going,” he insisted.
