
Woman and two children die after fire in Clondalkin
A woman and two children have died overnight after a serious fire at an apartment in Clondalkin.
The tragedy unfolded around 2:30am when a blaze broke out at a dwelling at Cluainin Cronan.
Two women and three children (two girls and one boy) were in the apartment at the time.
A 27-year-old woman and two young girls (aged two and three) were taken to Tallaght Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The second woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to St James Hospital and a four-year-old boy was taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin.
Their condition is described as critical.
In a statement released by gardai a spokesperson said: “Gardaí and fire services attended the scene of the fire at Cluainin Cronan, Clondalkin at approximately 2.30am this morning.
“The scene is sealed off and a technical examination of the area will take place later today
“Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to contact them at Clondalkin Garda Station on 01-666 7600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
