Workhuman is believed to be only the second Irish company after Intercom to officially confirm it has reached unicorn status, a title given to private-held tech companies worth one billion or more.

The company was co-founded in 1999 by CEO Eric Mosley, who is from Glenview in Tallaght, and Eddie Reynolds.

Formerly known as Globoforce, the software firm operates employee reward and incentive schemes for some of the world’s biggest companies – clients including Biogen, Cisco, LinkedIn, Procter & Gamble, JetBlue Airways and KPMG.

CEO and co-founder Eric Mosley said their office space capacity of 400, has been surpassed while working from home during Covid.

“In the first half of 2021, we’ll be expanding to a second building which has four floors and will give us an additional 200 seats. And then we have plans for further expansion in the years to come for another 200 seats. Looking forward, we’ll be able to hold at least 800 humans in our Park West office space by 2023,” he said.

The company surpassed revenues of more than €620m in 2019, up from €448m in 2018 and saw double digit growth in 2020.

It is aiming for turnover of one billion within a couple of years.

“We’re on track to be heading in that direction, if it’s not 2021, we’ll be at that runway early 2022,” said Mosley.

More than 5 million employees are on the Workhuman platform across 160 countries.

Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) bought a 10 per cent share in Workhuman for €98m and saw double digit growth in 2020.

The company experienced growth of over 40 per cent in April 2020 versus the same month in 2019.
