Youth denies sexually assaulting female cousins on four occasions
A TEENAGER (17) who denies sexually assaulting two of his female first cousins has had a new hearing date set in the CCJ.
Judge Patricia McNamara had previously ruled that the case could be kept in the Children’s Court.
The teenager was 15 at the time of the alleged offences and his cousins were 11 and eight years old.
The court had heard that the teenager allegedly sexually assaulted the younger girl on four occasions and told her she would be harmed if she told anybody.
In relation to the older girl, the teenager allegedly touched her when they were alone in his sitting room on four occasions.
The 17-year-old, who has an address in Tallaght, had pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexually assaulting a female between October 2016 and March 2017 and not guilty to four counts of sexually assaulting the female’s sister also on dates between October 2016 and March 2017 all at his address in Tallaght.
A hearing date had previously been set in Court 6 in the CCJ on September 26 next as the courtroom has the necessary audio video facilities.
A solicitor for the DPP told Judge McNamara that a new hearing date would have to be set as the alleged victims would be on holiday in a Mediterranean country.
She said September 28 next in Court 6 had been set aside and she added that the defendant and his solicitor had been notified.
Judge McNamara adjourned the case to September 28 next in Court 6 for hearing.
