€100,000 funding boost for groups

SOUTH Dublin County Council have paid out nearly €100,000 in grants as part of the second round of their community grants scheme for 2018, 41 grants totalling €97,204 have been recommended for approval by SDCC.

Palmerstown Community Centre are to receive an employment grant of €20,000 and Rathcoole Community Centre are to receive an employment grant of €10,000.

The Park Community Centre in Ballycragh will receive €20,000

Fettecairn Community and Youth centre are to receive €500 for minor equipment. Russell Square Residents Association are to receive €250 for running costs. St Mark’s Silver Surfers will receive €3,000 for major equipment.

The Fforster Estate Residents Group will receive two grants of €500 for running costs and environmental improvements.

The Park Community Centre is to receive €20,000 in an employment grant. For sports activities Peamount United will receive €3,000, while  Ballyboden St Enda’s and Commercials Hurling and Camogie Club are to receive €4,000 each.

Local Councillor Liona O’Toole welcomed the approving of the grants, she told The Echo: “I would like to congratulate all the groups that have been successful in their Community Grants applications.

“Various community grants are available throughout the year, details of these grants are publicized through various social media forums.”
